As stated in the manual, program uses past games in the statistical evaluation of ratings and in-totals. New games are valued higher than old ones. Past games are completely ignored if they are older than depreciation period. Typical depreciation period is about 900 days in a soccer leagues. Exact definition of 'Ratings' and 'Intotals' (applicable to the algorithm of 2002) comes from the following relationships: Average goals difference = Home advantage + Rating of home team - Rating of away team Average goals sum = Intotal of home team + Intotal of away team Calculation of ratings and intotals is based on the statistical analysis of past games. It is performed by Odds Wizard 'on the fly'. Involved expressions are quite complicated, and therefore cannot be expressed as trigular relation. Numbers in Ratings charts are relative values about some mean value which is set to zero. In general, one should not use Ratings / Intotals values explicitly in algorithm of 2006. Those values are still present for comparison purposes. |
