Please don’t take this list in the wrong way. It’s not meant to criticise and is not a grumble about this fabulous program. They are just suggestions and will hopefully be viewed as possible improvements. 1. Some kind of Bet Manager that would be fed from the Stake Wizard and would keep a track of the bets recommended by OW & SW. This would help me see if a particular strategy is successful and see how it performs to the target fund inputted into SW. At the moment, I’m using Excel for this and it just isn’t doing the job for me. 2. The tournament analysis is useless for season long bets and is incredibly slow beyond even the next fixture. I realize and appreciate the reason for this is accuracy but wonder if this feature could be speeded up, in some way, in order to predict a league’s end of season position. Maybe a slider control to tune the accuracy. 100% would be as it is now and 0% would be no accuracy at all. 3. A similar program that predicted odds for the horse racing. I realize this would be an incredibly difficult thing to do given all the different variables involved but even if I had to input all the race data myself, this would be an incredible program to have. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I must stress again that this isn’t a grumble but just suggestions. Regards, Theuth |

Thanks for suggestions! By the way, program is constantly improved in the large extent due to the good ideas of dedicated users. 1. Bet manager keeping the bet history & results - taken into consideration. 2. Tournament analysis of course may be slow at the beginning of the season because all teams start from 0 points, and every team has a chance to occupy any place in the first round. Starting from 2nd round, computations of the next round are much faster. In the group-structured tournaments however (where groups are limited by 4-6 teams), it is possible to compute the final result from the start to the end in a reasonable time. For example, computation of the whole World Cup-2006 group stage has taken about 5 minutes. In order to boost computation speed in every situation, we'll consider changing the probability threshold from 10^-11 (currently) to higher values, as suggested - using some user's input. 3. Horse racing - taken into consideration. This probably would be a separate program, or maybe a tool within oW. |

Question about Tournament analysis: Does it calculate team placement after the next round or probable placement on completion of season? What would be the use of knowing probability of placement after the next round? (Edited by: 17 August, 2006 - 03:39:13) |

That depends on the fixtures shown in the games table. Usually it shows fixtures for the next round. However, by setting Options value 'Show new fixtures, rounds' to ~100, and clicking menu 'Fixtures -> Show new fixtures', it is possible to instruct Tournament analysis tool to compute placements up to completion of season. It makes no sense to evaluate the whole season placements for the regular championships, as computing time will be tremendous. In the group-structured tournaments however (where groups are limited by 4-6 teams), it is possible to compute the final result in a reasonable time - as stated in the above message. Placement odds are often proposed by sportsbooks, e.g. for the past World Cup'06 groups. And this is an area where they often make mistakes. In some tournament situations, certain team cannot occupy certain place (i.e. 1st can, 3rd can, but 2nd cannot!) that is sometimes not evident from the common sense. |
