A Few Questions from a Newbie

Hi Alex/All,

I bought Odds Wizard a week ago and would first of all like to say that I am very impressed by it so thanks to the developers. What I like about the attitude of everyone ivolved in the program is that nobody claims that this is going to garauntee profits. At least not quickly. However, I am hopeful that with patience and discipline it will be possible to make a little money from betting on the right selections.

Now to my questions. Apologies for the long post!

1. I have tried to add a couple of leagues using the OW Miner and whilst the leagues were added in, odds and fixtures do not automatically display in the bottom of the page. I therefore find myself having to insert the fictures manually. Also, the line odds do not display (this may because Bwin do not offer the particular market). How can I get OW to automatically display the fair odds for imported leagues?

2. Also on the subject of adding in leagues; do you have to add the new data in using OW Miner each week to keep the extra leagues updated? It's just that this method is a little time consuming and you have to be careful not to add data from a season twice as the OW Miner seems to add it again thuse double weighing the results of one season.

3. Some of my leagues do not automatically display the odds in the bottom half of the screen when i open them. Perhaps I have accidentally switched a setting on or off. If so, could you please let me know how to fix this?

4. I am keenly awaiting the new fair odds for matches in the coming midweek. When does OW get updated with fair odds for a new round of fixtures? Is there a way of controlling when this happens?

5. Despite following the advice of Alex, the help section and forum users, my results have so far been rather poor. My record to date is:

Losses: 15
Average OW Odds: 1.9
Expected Wins: 12
Average BM Odds: 2.32
Profit/Loss: -£112
Yield: -20%

I have only placed value bets and have only put groups of bets on when the zave% was greater than 4%. I have also tried not to place bets on teams which have an overly negative trend agains teams which have an overly positive trend. I do understnad that betting is a volatile game so will persever. However, any advice which would help me to improve things would be much appreciated. My selections are listed below.

That's right. Expectations of quick enrichment by betting are wrong even though you are using a powerful program. Look at the value of 'Rave' (in Stake Wizard tool) to have an idea of how many betting rounds are needed on average to achieve the target fund.

1. Use menu Fixtures -> Get new fixtures to display new fixtures at the bottom of the main form. Bwin odds are not available in the custom leagues. See also (3).

2. OW Miner is just a simple standalone tool that was designed to help users to compile and update their custom leagues. Sometimes (although not often) it is used to update some officially supported leagues like Scottish Highland league.

3. To display fair odds automatically, check the box Options -> Auto calculations on file opening.

4. Fair odds are not updated at all. Instead, they are computed 'on-the-fly'. Only games are subject to real updates, while the fair odds just follow available live or full-time results. So you may compose any pairing yourselves and check fair odds immediately. Another way is to use menu item Fixtures -> Show new fixtures. At the same time, when you update all leagues using menu Internet -> Basic update of all leagues, all this work has been already done for you. If you can't wait for that, try to use Internet -> Express update, or compose pairings manually as stated above.

5. You might have stake (*.STK) file for this complex bet. Could you please send it to me for the analysis along with the line odds you have used. Otherwise it's hard to say anything.
