LAY ODDS

Postby touchart » Wed Nov 24, 2010 12:14 pm

Hello, Alex

If we would like to lay a team, which is the method in order to have the value odds? If the away team has 10.5 to win, we have to put this on line odds and try to find in which odds is the fair odds? For example I have a bank of 250 Euros. I want to lay Twente against Inter. The fair price is 10.5. If i put 10.5 on line odds and 9.2 on fair odds it gives me that I have a stake of 2.08 Euros. So do i have to lay 2.08 Euros at 9.2 or lower? Is this the right way?

Thanking you in advance, I remain

Best regards and congratulations

This subject was addressed in the topic Odds Wizard vs BetFair:

http://www.newhavensoft.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5

According to the above and your specific values F (fair odds) = 10.5, L (line odds, i.e. the odds to be laid) = 9.2,

F' = 1/(1-1/F) = 1/(1-1/10.5) = 1.105
B' = L/(L-1) = 9.2/(9.2-1) = 1.122

The pair B' > F' now can be used as an input (L,F) for Stake Wizard bet optimizer. Suppose that your 'backing' bankroll
is equal to $1000, then, according to Stake Wizard calculations, you should 'bet' S' = $73.10

Afterwards, optimal stake value S' shoud be converted back to laying amount S = S'/(L-1) = 73.1/(9.2-1) = $8.9.

The above is however only theoretical construction which still needs to be proved at the practice.
