Home advantage

Postby groggy » Sun Mar 28, 2010 12:54 pm

I'd like to ask you whether odds wizard is computing general home advantage which depends on the league or separated home advantage for per football team in the league. There are many football teams and leagues, for example if we consider english premier league, odds wizard tells us home advantage is = 0.482 which is nearly equal to half ball, but when we check to wolverhampton, we can see it is not using this big advantage when it is playing it's home. This is not only exception, there are many teams which are not using their home advantage offered by odds wizard. I need to understand this important question. Does odds wizard calculate separated home advantage for per teams or does it use the genereal home advantage which depends on the league for example English premier league, home advantage = 0,482 ?

Thank you.

Roughly, home advantage is calculated as ratio:

(Sum of goals scored at home - Sum of goals scored away)/(Number of games)

This value may also vary in time.

Home advantage (HA) is given for indicative purposes only since the linear dependence between individual HA's and strength variables (rating & intotal, or attack & defence) does not permit to separate them in the sense of your question.
