OW gone mad

Postby Rishman » Fri May 28, 2010 12:32 pm

hi,

i recently got familiar with OW. so i was playing with it on the past scottish league (kilmarknock vs falkirk 08-may).

while experimenting with it i noticed that changing handicap odds from "asian" to "fixed" on the GENERAL VIEW (the view u see when u press f3) creates an additional "x"(draw) column for the handicap but thats fine, fixed handicap is suppose to have 1x2. while as asian handicap has only two columns 1-2.

when u change the view to asian handicaps by pressing f5 and still have the setting to show handicap odds as "fixed" you'll notice that the "x" column is gone. i.e OW only shows odds for home win"1" and away win"2" but thats not all, i also noticed that it shows different odds in different views.

for instance:
for the above match (kilmarknock vs falkirk 08-may) the handicap odds in general view are
"H"=0:1 home"1"=6.27 draw"x"=3.85 away"2"=1.72

the odds change for the same handicap, when i press f5 to change to "handicap view" it appears as:
"AHO"=0:1 home"1"=4.64 away"2"=1.27

then theres a relatively small confusion regarding the trend hints. apparently in the help section it says that "Some cells may have trend hints. They are coloured in a violet (blue on LCD monitors), and indicate the odds that are not recommended to bet on due to either unfavourable trends or poor statistics." with that statement they mean the odds are not favourable for the punter to bet or they are not favourable for the bookie to offer bet?

the profitmargin is at 0%. really confused why it happens like that and would appreciate the generosity of anyone who can explain this dilema.

1. It is not a fatal malfunction. Asian handicaps view displays correct
odds even though you have chosen 'fixed handicaps'. Confusion
is caused by shifted AHO base in such a case. You may take any
displayed AHO base, and enter it in the column AHO of the general
view, then press <Enter> to check consistency.

Anyway, we are going to fix this problem in the nearest future.

2. Violet cells are not favourable to bet on only for punters.
At the same time, they are favorable for bookies with an additional
condition: profit margin should be set to 10-20%.
