Questions concerning setup and general performance

MLB

Dear Alex,
As i am a life time subscriber, i have few questions and sure there will be more :)
I love US sports and you know MLB has just started. So;

1- I am using OW for the ratings of the teams. In that situation, which algoritm (2002, 2006, 2007) do i use make better results?
2-What is the ratings calculation formula? For example home team advantage changes from algorithm to algorithm.
3-Depreciation period. I want to have only a depreciation period of say last 5 or last 3 season. In order to do that i should make depreciation period days update 1 by 1 every single day.
for example,
Dep Period 365 day,
Ratings calculated based on 2010 MLB
Starting day of 2011
Dep Period 365 day
Second games of 2011
If Dep Period is 365, then it does not count the first games of the 2010 season,

In order to do that
In the second games of 2011, i should make it 366, and 3 games 367 and so on.

What i am asking is that could you make an option of dep period starting point, because in MLB teams performance differences are huge from season to season.

Thanks

1. We always recommend to use algorithm of 2007. However some users believe that algorithm of 2002 suits for some US sports better. That's why we've retained all algorithms in the program so that users could have a choice.

2. Ratings are calculated using advanced extentions to the known formulae for the multilinear statistical analysis. Each algorithm uses certain coordinate system, and that's why different values of home advantage are not surprising. Sorry that I can't tell you more as those extentions and algorithms were developed by mathematicians who cannot disclose details of their work.

3. Thank you for the interesting idea about depreciation period. Yes, we can make the starting point.

Thank you for your reply Alex,
When will you release new OW version with including WTA, and the starting depreciation period option?
thanks

The work on the fixed start DP is almost finished. WTA will be added somewhat later, it doesn't reqiure any changes in the program. Thank you for your patience.

Dear Alex,
Thank you for your work on the Fixed Start DP, really appreciated.

Is it also possible to have the line odds from different sportsbooks other than bwin? For example betjamaica or 5dimes? Those books have significantly higher odds for the American Sports than any other sportsbooks.

Thanks

Fixed start DP has been done in the newest release 2.1.0.552. Double-click in the depreciation period field to toggle the mode. Among other features of this release one can found more stable live results operation with a shorter update period 5 seconds, and an option to turn on/off sound notification of the completed updates.

We'll consider adding other sportsbooks reference odds as our next serious task.

this is something i meant to ask a few weeks back; i believe that for football other than bwin as reference; which i believe is a "public money firm".....firms that dictate the market should be added, firms that take "smart money"; like SBOBet, IBC or PinnacleSports. where the hold % is competitive, limits high and lines overall are sharper.

regards,

edo.
