Hi everybody !
Excuse me for my english, I speak french ... everytime

OW is a great software, congratulations Alex !
I want to use it for value bets and also to "play" like a bookmaker (with Betfair).
For the first use, it's ok but for the second I need some tips.

I've decided that the max liability on 1 event will be 2% of my bank.
But for other points I've many questions

Wich profit margin for an "1X2" event : 10% is it good, to low, to much ?
When place the offers ? 1 week before, 3-4 days before ?
Is it better to play a complete day in one league or choose 2 or 3 matches with no great fav ?

A major league has more offers and exchanges but they are more difficult for a complete offer because the prices moves a lot and an offer has more probability to finish unmatched.
A minor league has a little market but the offers have a great chance to be matched.
Am I right ? Wat is the best way to place offers ?

Thx a lot for your futures answers

Well..Hi,

First of all I don't think your question should be posted in this category. But I guess it's fine and I'll try to answer your questions.

You mentioned in your post that you'd like to use OW for Value Betting and Bookmaking (In BetFair)..I'm not sure if you're actually referring 'moulding' a abitrage where by you get a sure-win wager (back/lay). Anyway, I'll still try to answer what I can make out...

- A 10% PM should be fine for an average bookmaker. Ladbrokes, often fluctuate their PM from as low as 9% to 15% depending on the match. If it's a big match, usualy the PM will soar.

- If you're looking to lure a dumb and new punter to back your lays/lay your backs...You should post your offer as soon as the market opens.

- If you're seriously looking for value bets, choose a couple of matches with the edges like around 5%-15%, You won't have much everyday, so you'll probably end up with only a few matches or even none.

- Well, there's really no 'best' way to place offers. In an exchange like Betfair, the winnings only heads to three parties namely, the boss of BetFair, the sharp punter which won't bother about value bets but still rake in big money...and last but not least, the last few 'bookmaker's who's willing fork out odds providing the punters the least edge or none at all. It's practically a man-eat-man situation there at exchanges, so it's difficult...That's what I can say.

Lastly, one note. Value Betting requires a BIG pocket.. with a BIG HEART of patience... One who follows value betting can find themselves losing straight for days and weeks... So be prepared.

Thx for your help and the answers.

Play on values is one strategy, I do that and it's ok with patience, a good money management and betting like a robot without analyse the differents factors of a game. Juste the numbers.

Bookmaking is the thing that I will try, I dont want to make arbitrage with back values et laying after.

I would like to lay every 3 outcomes of a football game.
Is it difficult to make long term money with this method ?
Is someone do that ? ColdFish speaks about this but I had questions about that.

So in wich section can I post ?

Sorry if my post was difficult to undersand but it's difficult for me to write in english. Reading is ok but writing is another thing !

I will study laying 3 ways !

No prob, yes... ColdFish has indeed mentioned about him laying on all possible outcomes.

That I've discovered awhile back...But I can't bear to wait.. Which is why I'm always on the backing side...lol ..

Pehaps ColdFish can walk out to enlighten you on his methods.
